Trauma Risk Management (TRiM)

Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) is a peer-led, non-clinical framework designed to assess and monitor individuals following exposure to potentially traumatic events. Although TRiM is usually delivered by trained peers within an organisation, not every organisation is in a position to train and retain TRiM practitioners. I therefore offer TRiM assessments for you and your staff. Originally developed in the UK military, TRiM uses structured interviews to identify early signs of psychological distress and guide colleagues towards professional help where needed. The approach is consistent with NICE guidance NG116 on managing post-traumatic illness, which recommends a period of active monitoring in the first month after an incident. The TRiM process typically involves two initial assessments to help determine whether an employee needs referral for professional psychological support.
